Owner, Stylist, Master Barber

Maxine is our fearless leader, brilliant boss, and leading lady all wrapped into one. She cut her teeth (or shall we say sharepened her shears) in the late nineties. Whether you know her as Max, Maxine, or MJ, she’s the face behind the brand.

A barber by trade and lover of razor and precision-cutting, approachable beauty is very important to Maxine. She opened MJ hair studio & skin lab in 2015 to create a space where clients could come as they are and feel welcome and at home. “Be Your Own Kind of Beauty” is her motto.

When she steps out from behind the chair, you’re likely to see her dancing, working out, enjoying a good meal, or being with her grandbabies.

Stylist + Colorist

Kat is our shapeshifter. A hairstylist since 2006, and in the beauty industry even longer as a educator, make up artist and backstage stylist. Kat utilizes dry-cutting to create the most ideal, stunning shapes. She also specializes in men’s hair, razor cutting, and curly hair.

When she’s not creating perfectly coiffed styles, she mentors new and upcoming hairdressers, paddleboards, hikes the outdoors, and enjoys her time with her family and dog Lily.

A lover of unique food and traveling to new places, Kat is always looking for her next travel adventure.

Colorist + Stylist

Styling since 2020, Megan is a versatile stylist, and witty to boot. You’re sure to leave her chair with a smile on your face.

She’s and expert at making every client feel at home when at her station.

In addition to styling, she loves braiding, making her the go-to for timeless prom looks.

When she steps out from behind the chair, you can find her crocheting, as well as staying active and fit.

Stylist + Colorist

Jen has over twenty years of experience cutting and coloring hair. She is passionate in color formulation and application. Jen prides herself on keeping the integrity of her client’s hair. Her number one goal is to provide a great color and cut to prolong the look of her service until your next appointment.

Jen is a great listener and communicator to all who sit at her chair. Her clients leave feeling heard and having built trust.

When she’s not behind the chair, Jen is spending quality time with her family.

Advanced Esthetician

Bailey has been an esthetician since 2014, specializing in waxing, anti-aging treatments, and teenage acne-prone skin. She is oncology-certified, providing expert care for patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Bailey also offers the newest method of lash lifts with no glue-to-skin contact and is a master of waxing, impressing everyone with her seamless efficiency. A strong advocate for continuous education, she frequently adds new services to her repertoire, such as the rejuvenating HydraFacial.

Outside of the salon, Bailey is a dedicated wife and mother of three. She enjoys spending time with her family in the metro parks, gardening, and taking care of her fish and chickens.

Salon Manager

Neri is our Salon Manager. She’s always there to greet you when you come in. She has a genuine happy and warm disposition and she will always make you feel at home the moment you walk through the doors. She’s not only knowledgeable about our hair services and products but she is exceptional at guiding our guests through their scheduling process so they receive exactly what they need for an exceptional experience at MJ Hair Studio. Neri is committed to taking excellent care of our guests and staff.

Associate Stylist

Christina has always had a passion for beauty and creativity, which led her to pursue a career in cosmetology. Specializing in highlights and balayage, Christina takes pride in creating dimensional, personalized color that brings her clients’ hair to life. She graduated from her training program in May 2024 and has worked tirelessly to hone her craft. Outside of the salon, Christina enjoys spending time with her family, her beloved cat Topaz, and baking sweet treats. She finds inspiration in the valley’s serene beauty and brings that same warmth and artistry to every client she works with.

Associate Stylist

Julia started her career in cosmetology school in 2022 and quickly developed a passion for hair transformations and color. Her goal is to continue her education and expand her skill set to include chemical services like keratin and Brazilian blowouts. Julia is dedicated to perfecting her craft and is always seeking new opportunities to learn and grow. When she's not in the salon, you can find her exploring nature, hiking trails, or kayaking.

Growing up in the industry, Sophia was surrounded by the artistry of both the salon and barbershop world, thanks to her parents. Watching how hair could transform not just appearances but confidence, she knew this was more than just a career—it was her calling. Encouraged by her mom, she pursued cosmetology, and since then, she’s been dedicated to helping guests achieve their hair goals.

Sophia is passionate about creating beautiful, personalized styles while making every guest feel comfortable and heard. Whether she’s assisting the MJ team or working with her own guests, she brings care, creativity, and expertise to every appointment.

When she’s not behind the chair, you’ll find her spending time with family, getting lost in her latest binge-worthy show (right now, it’s New Girl—again!), or embracing whatever the day has in store. She can’t wait to welcome you to her chair and be part of your hair journey!

Associate Stylist

Kathy joined the industry with a desire to make people feel their best, and she delivers just that with every client she serves. A graduate of cosmetology school in May 2024, Kathy brings her expertise and versatility to the chair, specializing in major transformations, extensions, and color. She loves the challenge of creating something new and exciting every day. When she’s not behind the chair, Kathy enjoys spending quality time with her family, exploring new restaurants, binge-watching her favorite TV series, and occasionally hitting the dance floor. Her goal is simple: to ensure her clients leave her chair feeling confident and radiant.
